CALANCHE OF PIANA

Classified mondial interest by UNESCO, Calanche of Piana is one of the most beautiful places in Corsica, with its jagged red granite walls carved by erosion and falling sheer into the sea 300 meters below. Some of his “sculptures” have become famous for their resemblance to animals, characters or symbols : The dog’s head, eagle, heart, …

Legend tells that the Devil created the Calanche to punish a shepherdess who refused him. Transformed into a statue, she’s forever trapped in this fantastic city populated by creatures of stone.

 

LAKE OF CRENO

Located at an altitude of 1310m, Lake of Creno (Crenu) is the only wooded lake in Corscia. Surrounded by lariccio pine trees, this beautiful lake that looks more like the Scandinavian lakes and other glacial lakes Corsica fill nature lovers by the presence of waterlily and carnivourous plants rare and protected (Drosera).

To get there, you must go by car to the village of Soccia by D23 from Vico (via Porto or via Evisa from the Col de Vergio or going up north from Ajaccio by D81 and D70 from Sagone).

 

PORTO

Located between Ajaccio and Calvi, snuggled up in the hollow of the gulf which wears its name, the hamlet of Porto is the coastline of the town of Ota.

With prestigious sites that are Scandola Nature Reserve, Gulf of Girolata and Calanche of Piana, the whole Gulf of Porto was classified in 1983, World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

 

NATURAL SWIMMING POOL AITONE FOREST

Sweet chestnut trees, beeches, pines, oaks, holly forest… The forest of Aïtone full of vegetation particularly adapted to the freshness of the place. Located in the south of Corsica, culminating at 1500 meters altitude, the forest of Aïtone abounds in natural pools and in very refreshing waterfalls the water barely reaches 11 degres in the summer !
